Founded in 1942, Vale is a leading global mining and logistics company with operations in over 30 countries. The company plays a critical role in the global steel and battery materials supply chains.
Operations
Vale operates extensive iron ore mining operations in Brazil's Iron Quadrangle and Carajás regions, producing over 300 million tonnes annually. The company also has significant nickel operations in Canada, Indonesia, and New Caledonia, copper operations in Brazil, and coal operations in Mozambique. Vale owns and operates port terminals, railroads, and shipping infrastructure.
Strategy
Vale's strategy focuses on safety excellence following the Brumadinho tragedy, operational efficiency, decarbonization with a target of net-zero by 2050, portfolio optimization toward premium products, and maintaining position as the world's lowest-cost and highest-quality iron ore producer.
