A US$18M nano-cap sitting on an after-tax NPV of $1.15B, about 63.5x its market cap, is a gap that invites two opposite readings. The generous one is that a Chilean lithium asset in Region II (Antofagasta), in a jurisdiction with a long mining history, has simply not been looked at by investors, and the equity is a cheap option on a large resource. The skeptical one is that the market sees a scoping-level study from a company with little else in the portfolio (this is one of 3 projects we track for it) and assigns a low probability that the build is ever financed, permitted and delivered on the stated terms. A multiple this large usually reflects a lot of discounting for those risks, not just neglect.
The returns are respectable but not a free pass. A 28% after-tax IRR ranks above 71% of the 24 lithium projects we track. It also clears the roughly 15% that developers typically need to attract project finance, and the 20%+ expected of a higher-risk junior, which describes this company. That cushion matters because a PEA capital estimate typically carries a plus or minus 50% band, and the study may include inferred resources. The NPV is more modest in relative terms, ranking above only 15% of the 27 lithium projects we track, so the headline dollar figure is not unusual for the sector. The case rests on returns, not on sheer size. The 20-year mine life supports the economics, but the project is still at the Exploration stage, which leaves a long road of drilling, engineering and permitting. The 10% discount rate is a reporting convention and tells us little.
Chile brings real resource endowment and established infrastructure, but lithium there involves layered permitting and community and state-participation considerations, and these tend to lengthen timelines and shape economics in ways a PEA cannot fully capture. We would treat the study's price deck as a sensitivity, not a forecast, since the returns will move with it.
The deciding question is whether an US$18M company can credibly assemble the funding and approvals for a build of this scale. Without a strategic partner or a clear financing route, the NPV gap says more about that doubt than about hidden value.
