Century Lithium Corp. (TSX-V:LCE, OTCQX:CYDVF) announced that it has advanced federal permitting for its Angel Island lithium project in Nevada with the submission of a Draft Mine Plan of Operations to the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM), marking a key step in the project’s regulatory review process.
The Vancouver-based company said the draft plan is currently under review by the BLM and forms a central component of the permitting framework required for mining projects on public lands.
In April, Century Lithium also signed a memorandum of understanding with the BLM outlining the roles of each party during the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process. NEPA governs environmental assessments for major federal actions, including mine development.
Century Lithium expects to receive initial feedback from the BLM within the next month, which will help inform completion of the final Plan of Operations.
The Angel Island project has been designated a Transparency Project under the Federal Permitting Council’s FAST-41 program, which is designed to improve coordination and transparency for major infrastructure projects undergoing federal review. Project timelines and milestones are published on a public permitting dashboard.
In parallel with federal permitting, the company said it is advancing workstreams identified in its 2026 feasibility study, including state and local permitting, pre-construction planning, detailed engineering, and development of supporting infrastructure.
Century Lithium added that it is also pursuing research and development initiatives aimed at improving the project’s design and economics, as well as potentially attracting additional funding.
"Submission of the Draft Plan of Operations is a significant step in the NEPA process for Angel Island," Century Lithium CEO Bill Willoughby said in a statement.
"It initiates a coordinated review among the company, the BLM, and the third-party contractor to ensure the necessary information is incorporated into the final plan of operations, which serves as the proposed action for the NEPA analysis."
