Continuous gold futures were down 2.1% to $4,939 per ounce early Tuesday, while silver futures tumbled 5% to $74.10. Precious metals miners were also lower, with Freeport-McMoRan and Newmont down by 1.7% and 3.1%, respectively, in premarket trading.
